KOMPAS Project

We are excited to announce the completion of KOMPAS (Old Cornish for ‘compass’), our latest art and heritage project funded by Arts Council England, The National Lottery project, and Feast.

The first phase of KOMPAS was focused on exploring queer history in North Cornwall and West Penwith — specifically the Bethany Project, an HIV/AIDS respite centre in Bodmin, and the Outback Newsletter, a circular for lesbians in the South-West. Our partner artists were selected from an application pool and invited to create artworks based on these topics under the guidance of creative producer and lead artist SHARP. Queer Kernow partnered with local organisations in each area, intoBodmin and Kresen Kernow, where the artists were able to research their chosen topics and take part in community events and workshops.
