Inspired by KOMPAS residencies at Kresen Kernow, Sancreed Village Hall and ‘Ada Gardener’, the gardening pages of the Outback Newsletter, Companion Planting is the first version of a travelling social planting project that sits at the intersection of archiving, horticulture and Queer history in Cornwall. Inviting visitors to take the first steps of growing plants mentioned in Outback and contribute their personal reflection on queerness and planting to the project’s Garden Journal, Companion Planting fosters connection to both historical and real time LGBTQIA+ growing in the county.
Ellie hopes to develop Companion Planting as a project and take it to multiple sites across Cornwall in future.
